Travel wisely, use your phone

We have started off vox.io with a simple wish: making internet communication more accessible, ubiquitous and simple to use. With the latest release, we are another step closer, with unique profile URLs, Quick Call links, and the ability to store multiple personal phone numbers—perfect for the frequent traveler.

The pillar stones of our story

We’ve set the direction right from the beginning of our journey:

  • our unique profile URLs hide your real-life phone numbers behind a simple link. This way, you’ll never forget a phone number and always be reachable, no matter where you are.
  • our Quick call links provide the easiest possible way to talk to someone without the need to establish a long-term “relationship”: generate a vox.me link, send it out, and when the other person clicks on it, and you are talking. No need to install, download or even sign-up.

But we have still felt the pain in setting up everything, especially when traveling. Have you ever wanted to check your FB news feed or chat with a loved one when abroad? It’s pretty hard, the roaming charges are expensive. So the only viable solution quickly becomes buying a SIM card with a data package. But how do you get all of your contacts to be able to reach you on your new phone number?

Multiple phone numbers -> pick your calls, everywhere

That’s where vox.io steps in. You are now able to store multiple personal phone numbers right on vox.io. So, when you arrive at a new country, you can simply switch your SIM card, change your default number on vox.io, and voilá! People can still reach you through your unique vox.io profile (and soon via the iPhone client!), wherever you are.

How do we see people using the ability to have multiple phone numbers in combination with vox.io URL profiles? They post their profiles on social networks (facebook, twitter, about.me…), in email signatures and on business cards. By exposing your profile URLs, friends and colleagues will be able to reach you wherever they are without knowing your current phone number with a simple click on the big green call button.

Have you missed our previous announcements? Vox.io has recently become way cooler with the introduction of SMS messages, vox.me links and a much better calling experience.

Not yet a vox.io user? -> it’s pretty easy to sign-up and start calling in a minute.

Please drop us a line on our Getsatisfaction page or via Twitter and Facebook if you have any questions or comments regarding our newest additions or service in general. Happy calling!
